Atoyac, Ver. – Desde temprano, el humo de los ingenios se alza como una promesa. Las cañas crujen bajo los machetes en los surcos mientras los camiones avanzan, uno a uno, por las brechas polvorientas que conducen al corazón de las fábricas.
La zafra sigue, y con ella el rumor de una buena temporada: el KARBE neto, esa medida silenciosa pero poderosa que traduce azúcar en dinero, viene al alza en la región centro del estado.
La jornada en El Potrero comienza antes del amanecer. Aún con la bruma sobre los cañales, los cortadores ya están en faena. El olor a bagazo quemado se mezcla con el del sudor y la tierra mojada.
Dicen los más veteranos que no había una zafra tan pareja desde hace años, y no es sólo una corazonada. Los números lo confirman: más de 110 kilos de azúcar recuperable por tonelada de caña, un rendimiento que pone a este ingenio entre los mejores del estado.
Más arriba, en las lomas que abastecen a El Progreso, la historia es similar. Aquí la caña madura más rápido, y eso se nota en el KARBE: 113.4 kilos por tonelada, uno de los más altos registrados en esta temporada. El optimismo se siente en los patios de descarga y en las casas ejidales. Hay voces que afirman que si el clima no se complica, este año cerrará como uno de los más rentables en la última década.
El corte del cinco de abril sirvió de punto de comparación. Ingenios como San Nicolás, San José de Abajo y La Providencia también mostraron signos positivos. Incluso aquellos que solían estar por debajo de la media, como Constancia y Central Motzorongo, han logrado mantener rendimientos dignos. San Miguelito, aunque con cifras más bajas, continúa en la lucha.
Pero más allá del dato duro, hay una lectura que se hace en voz baja en los cafetines de paso y en los comités cañeros: el campo está respondiendo porque hay manos que lo cuidan. Los técnicos que recorren parcela tras parcela, los productores que invierten en fertilización, riego y control de plagas, los cortadores que no aflojan el paso.
Todos forman parte de una maquinaria viva que, cuando funciona bien, da resultados.
“El KARBE no miente”, dice un productor de Cuichapa mientras espera su turno para descargar. “Uno puede echarle ganas, pero si la caña no viene dulce, no vale. Hoy estamos viendo que sí vale, que el trabajo se nota”.
La temporada aún no concluye. El cierre de zafra se espera entre mayo y junio, según el ritmo de corte y molienda. Pero en cada surco, en cada tonelada entregada, se juega algo más que un número: está en juego el ingreso de familias, la salud financiera de las organizaciones cañeras, y la esperanza de que, al menos este año, el esfuerzo valga la pena.
Por ahora, el humo sigue saliendo de los trapiches. Las ruedas giran. La caña hierve. Y el azúcar, como pocas veces, endulza también el ánimo de una región que vive —por fin— una buena cosecha.

Atoyac, Ver.- La sobreproducción de azúcar en México ha generado un escenario de saturación en el mercado nacional que ya impacta precios, exportaciones y la estabilidad del sector, advirtieron especialistas.
De acuerdo con análisis del mercado agroalimentario, el país enfrenta un excedente significativo del endulzante, con inventarios que superarían el nivel óptimo al cierre del ciclo comercial 2025-2026.
Esto equivale a reservas suficientes para más de dos meses de consumo interno, lo que mantiene los precios a la baja.
Expertos señalan que esta sobreoferta es resultado de varios factores que coinciden en el mismo periodo: una producción en aumento, menor demanda interna y restricciones en la exportación hacia Estados Unidos, uno de los principales destinos del producto mexicano.
A pesar de que el Gobierno federal implementó aranceles elevados a las importaciones de azúcar —con el objetivo de proteger la industria nacional—, la medida no ha logrado equilibrar el mercado.
Entre las causas, se menciona el ingreso irregular del producto al país, así como la competencia con sustitutos más baratos como el jarabe de maíz de alta fructosa.
Además, el consumo interno muestra señales de estancamiento. Proyecciones indican que el crecimiento será mínimo en los próximos años, influido por cambios en los hábitos alimenticios y una mayor conciencia sobre los efectos del azúcar en la salud.
En paralelo, la producción nacional continúa en aumento, impulsada por mejores condiciones climáticas en zonas cañeras, lo que incrementa aún más la disponibilidad del producto en el mercado.
Este desequilibrio entre oferta y demanda ha provocado un entorno complicado para los productores, quienes enfrentan menores ingresos y un panorama incierto para la comercialización del azúcar.
Analistas advierten que, de no aplicarse medidas más efectivas para regular el mercado y fortalecer las exportaciones, la acumulación de inventarios seguirá presionando los precios a la baja.
En este contexto, el sector azucarero mexicano enfrenta un reto estructural: adaptarse a una menor demanda global, competir con alternativas más económicas y responder a cambios en el consumo que privilegian productos más saludables.
La situación, coinciden especialistas, refleja una problemática más amplia en el campo mexicano, donde el aumento en la producción no siempre se traduce en beneficios económicos, especialmente cuando no existe un equilibrio en el mercado.

Fortín, Ver.– Tres nuevos casos de gusano barrenador en caninos fueron atendidos en el municipio de Fortín, con lo que suman al menos ocho reportes en lo que va del seguimiento a esta plaga, de acuerdo con autoridades locales.
Los casos más recientes se detectaron tras reportes ciudadanos en la congregación de Monte Blanco, donde se ubicaron dos perros afectados, y en la localidad de Villa Unión, donde se registró otro más. Personal municipal acudió a los puntos señalados para brindar atención directa a las mascotas.
A través de la Coordinación de Fomento y Desarrollo Agropecuario, se han implementado acciones de respuesta inmediata para contener la propagación, que incluyen la revisión de animales, retiro de larvas y atención de heridas.
Durante la intervención, también se realizaron tomas de muestra que serán enviadas al Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (SENASICA) para su análisis y confirmación, como parte del protocolo sanitario.
Posteriormente, los animales recibieron limpieza y curación de las lesiones, con la aplicación de productos especializados, en coordinación con sus propietarios.
De acuerdo con los reportes, Fortín se mantiene entre los municipios con mayor número de casos detectados en la entidad, lo que ha llevado a reforzar las acciones de vigilancia y atención.
Autoridades hicieron un llamado a la población a mantenerse atenta ante posibles síntomas en sus mascotas, como heridas con presencia de larvas, y reportar de inmediato cualquier caso sospechoso para su atención oportuna.
Asimismo, se recomendó mantener a los animales en condiciones adecuadas de higiene y revisar constantemente su estado de salud, a fin de prevenir mayores afectaciones.

Cuichapa, Ver.– Alumnos de siete telesecundarias de la zona escolar 61 participaron en la primera etapa de presentación de Proyectos de Integridad Comunitaria, realizada en la telesecundaria “José María Morelos y Pavón”, donde expusieron propuestas enfocadas al bienestar social de sus comunidades.
En el encuentro académico estuvieron representadas las escuelas “Pípila”, de Pocitos, en Tezonapa; “Benito Juárez García”, de San José de Abajo, en Cuitláhuac; “Francisco I. Madero”, de Omealca; “Manuel Ávila Camacho”, de Monte Alto, en Tezonapa; “Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez”, de San Agustín, también en Tezonapa; así como “Juan de la Luz Enríquez Cobos García”, del municipio sede.
Durante la jornada, estudiantes presentaron iniciativas orientadas a resolver problemáticas locales, destacando temas relacionados con el entorno social, la participación ciudadana y el fortalecimiento de valores comunitarios.
Los proyectos fueron analizados por autoridades educativas y asistentes, quienes reconocieron el compromiso de los jóvenes al desarrollar propuestas que buscan generar un impacto positivo en sus localidades.
Asimismo, se destacó la participación activa de docentes, directivos y personal administrativo, quienes acompañaron a los alumnos en la elaboración de cada iniciativa presentada.
El evento tuvo como sede la telesecundaria “José María Morelos y Pavón”, que fungió como anfitriona de esta primera etapa, consolidándose como un espacio de encuentro para el intercambio de ideas y experiencias entre instituciones educativas de la región.
Finalmente, se reconoció el esfuerzo de la comunidad escolar por impulsar este tipo de actividades que promueven la formación integral de los estudiantes y su vinculación con el entorno social.
