Atoyac, Ver. – La zafra 2025–2026 podría no arrancar. En el corazón cañero de México, el descontento se convirtió en desesperación tras el anuncio del nuevo precio del azúcar: $10,100 por tonelada para la zafra 2024–2025 y $14,000 para las preliquidaciones 2025–2026, una cifra que rompe toda estabilidad en el campo y amenaza con paralizar al sector más importante de Veracruz.

El ajuste, emitido por la Conadesuca y la CNIAA, es visto como un golpe mortal para miles de familias que dependen de la caña. El precio base —que llegó a superar los $16,000 por tonelada— cayó más de 2 mil pesos, dejando a los productores en números rojos y sin recursos para financiar la próxima siembra.

“Con este precio no hay manera de sostener la zafra. Estamos quebrados, endeudados y sin esperanza”, expresó un representante cañero del ingenio San Nicolás, mientras advertía que cientos de productores podrían abandonar sus parcelas antes de diciembre.

En ingenios como El Potrero, La Providencia, El Modelo y San José de Abajo, la situación es crítica: no hay dinero para pagar deudas, ni remanentes, ni los costos de corte y acarreo. Los cañeros afirman que la zafra está técnicamente suspendida, pues no existen condiciones mínimas para iniciar los trabajos.

La crisis golpea al estado con más ingenios del país —18 en total— y que aporta casi el 40 % de la producción nacional. Veracruz ha molido más de 9.7 millones de toneladas de caña en la última temporada, pero los ingresos no alcanzan ni para cubrir los gastos básicos, que rebasan los $70,000 por hectárea.

“Nos están empujando al abandono del campo”, lamentó otro productor de La Providencia. “Ya no es rentable sembrar caña; el precio no cubre ni la mitad del esfuerzo”.

A la debacle económica se suma una sequía prolongada, el aumento del costo del diésel y los fertilizantes, y la competencia desleal de edulcorantes importados, que inundan el mercado y desplazan al azúcar nacional.

Sin apoyos, sin crédito y sin certidumbre, el futuro del sector se oscurece. Más de 70 mil familias veracruzanas viven hoy con la incertidumbre de perderlo todo. Si no hay una intervención urgente del gobierno federal y una revisión inmediata del precio base, la próxima zafra podría no arrancar, marcando el principio del colapso del campo cañero mexicano.

Atoyac, Ver.— El gobierno municipal que encabeza el alcalde Juan Carlos Rojas Castro intensificó las acciones de prevención contra el dengue, con el objetivo de garantizar condiciones sanitarias seguras ante la llegada de visitantes durante la próxima temporada vacacional.

En coordinación con la Jurisdicción Sanitaria de Córdoba, se puso en marcha una campaña integral que contempla fumigaciones en puntos estratégicos como balnearios, restaurantes, iglesias y otros espacios de alta concentración turística.

La doctora Ara Calatayud, responsable de la coordinación de salud municipal, explicó que estas medidas se enfocan principalmente en la prevención, debido a que en municipios cercanos ya se han detectado casos, lo que representa un riesgo para la región.

“Estamos en una temporada en la que esperamos una importante afluencia de turistas, por lo que es fundamental reducir la presencia del mosquito transmisor. La prevención es la clave”, señaló.

Detalló que los esfuerzos se concentran en eliminar criaderos del mosquito, que suelen encontrarse en agua limpia estancada, especialmente en albercas, recipientes y espacios sin flujo constante.

Como parte de estas acciones, el Ayuntamiento realizó un “Llantatón”, logrando la recolección de más de 250 neumáticos, considerados potenciales focos de reproducción del mosquito. Este material fue canalizado a una empresa recicladora para su disposición final.

Asimismo, se alista una campaña de descacharrización que se llevará a cabo a finales de abril, con el propósito de retirar objetos en desuso que puedan acumular agua y favorecer la proliferación del vector.

Las autoridades municipales subrayaron que la fumigación es una medida complementaria, por lo que hicieron un llamado a la población a mantener patios limpios, eliminar recipientes con agua, usar repelente y reforzar la protección en viviendas.

El gobierno local reiteró que estas acciones forman parte de una estrategia preventiva para proteger tanto a habitantes como a visitantes, y evitar un repunte de casos durante una de las temporadas con mayor movilidad en el municipio.

Martínez de la Torre, Ver.— Al cierre de marzo de 2026, el estado de Veracruz se posicionó como la región con el precio más alto en limón persa a nivel nacional, de acuerdo con un comparativo de mercados que incluye zonas productoras como Colima, Apatzingán y Oaxaca.

Según los datos, el limón persa en Veracruz alcanzó un valor cercano a los 38 pesos por kilogramo, superando ampliamente a otras regiones del país. En contraste, estados como Colima y Oaxaca registraron precios que rondan entre los 10 y 12 pesos, mientras que Apatzingán se ubicó ligeramente por debajo.

En el caso del limón con semilla, los precios se mantienen más bajos y con menor variación entre regiones, lo que refleja una diferencia clara en la demanda y comercialización entre ambos tipos de producto.

Este comportamiento posiciona a Veracruz como uno de los mercados más competitivos para el limón persa, impulsado por factores como la calidad del producto, la demanda y las condiciones de oferta.

Productores de la región señalan que estos niveles representan una oportunidad importante; sin embargo, también advierten sobre la necesidad de mantener estrategias de comercialización que eviten la caída de precios, especialmente ante la intervención de intermediarios.

El contraste entre estados evidencia la disparidad en los mercados agrícolas y refuerza la importancia de la organización entre productores para mejorar sus condiciones de venta.

El panorama al cierre del mes muestra un mercado dinámico, donde Veracruz destaca como referencia nacional en el precio del limón persa, mientras que otras regiones se mantienen con cotizaciones considerablemente menores.

Omealca, Ver.— El Ayuntamiento de Omealca, encabezado por el alcalde Dionicio Herrera Torres, convocó a la población a participar en el programa de apoyo “Para tu vivienda y el desarrollo al campo”, dirigido a beneficiar a familias del municipio.

La entrega se llevará a cabo el próximo 9 de abril en la comunidad de La Pichonera, frente al Palacio Municipal, a partir de las 10:00 de la mañana, donde se otorgarán insumos de utilidad para el hogar, entre ellos tinacos, de los cuales aún hay disponibilidad.

Autoridades municipales informaron que el proceso de registro se encuentra en su etapa final, ya que estará abierto del 1 al 5 de abril, por lo que hicieron un llamado a los habitantes a acudir con anticipación para asegurar su participación en el programa.

El alcalde Dionicio Herrera Torres destacó que estas acciones forman parte de las estrategias para mejorar las condiciones de vida de las familias y fortalecer las actividades del sector rural en el municipio.

El programa busca apoyar tanto en necesidades básicas de vivienda como en el impulso al campo, sectores considerados prioritarios dentro de la administración municipal.

El Ayuntamiento reiteró la invitación a la ciudadanía para no dejar pasar esta oportunidad y formar parte de los beneficios disponibles, en una iniciativa orientada a generar bienestar en la población de Omealca.
