Registra petróleo la mayor alza desde 2022

Ciudad de México.- Los precios del crudo registraron la semana anterior el mayor avance en tres años, ante los ataques entre Israel e Irán, que generaron temores por el suministro del energético, y por un escalamiento del conflicto.
Así, el WTI cerró la semana en 72.98 dólares por barril, con un incremento semanal del 13 por ciento, mientras que el Brent se situó en 74.56 dólares, acumulando una ganancia de 12.61 por ciento en los últimos siete días, con lo que alcanzaron su mayor nivel desde febrero de este año.
La semana anterior fue la de mayor incremento para el WTI desde octubre de 2022, y para el caso del Brent desde marzo de 2022.
El conflicto en Medio Oriente ha continuado escalando, con la respuesta de Irán en un ataque de cientos de misiles en represalia a Israel contra sus instalaciones militares y nucleares de Teherán, lo que amenaza con extenderse por toda la región.
De acuerdo con Gabriela Siller, directora de análisis económico de Grupo Base, a pesar de la situación compleja en Medio Oriente, los precios del petróleo no superaron los 85 dólares por barril, lo que es un primer signo positivo en medio de la volatilidad.
“No se rompió el nivel de 85 dólares en el precio del crudo, lo cual quiere decir que el mercado está sopesando que probablemente no va a escalar mucho esta guerra, o bien EU pudiera proveer más petróleo y la oferta de petróleo no se vería tan afectada”, dijo Siller a El Financiero Bloomberg.
Para Hammad Husain, economista de materias primas para Capital Economics, la OPEP tendrá un papel relevante estos días sobre el control de los precios ante la volatilidad actual
“La OPEP será el actor clave a tener en cuenta, dado que el grupo cuenta con amplia capacidad disponible para compensar un impacto en el suministro de petróleo y limitar el riesgo alcista de los precios globales si así lo desea”, citó Husain.

De acuerdo con expertos de ATFX, aunque la infraestructura petrolera iraní no fue alcanzada directamente, el movimiento refleja un aumento en el riesgo geopolítico en la región.
“La principal preocupación de los agentes del mercado se centra en posibles represalias por parte de Irán, especialmente debido a su presencia militar cerca del Estrecho de Ormuz — un paso estratégico por donde transita una porción considerable del crudo mundial”.
Por su parte, analistas de Monex detallaron que el país persa aporta cerca del 13.0 por ciento de la producción total de la OPEP y, en caso de que sus instalaciones petroleras sean atacadas, la oferta global podría verse gravemente afectada.
Pese a las tensiones en los mercados financieros por el conflicto en Medio Oriente, el peso logró avanzar en la semana y logró mantenerse por debajo de las 19 unidades.
Los registros del Banco de México (Banxico) reflejaron que el tipo de cambio se ubicó en los 18.9396 pesos por dólar el pasado viernes, lo que representó una apreciación semanal de 0.87 por ciento. Con esto ligó dos semanas con ganancias, en las que acumuló un avance frente al dólar de 2.4 por ciento.
De acuerdo con Felipe Mendoza, analista de mercados financieros y divisas de ATFX Latam, a pesar de la volatilidad reciente, el peso se muestra resiliente, “consolidando su posición como una de las monedas emergentes más fuertes en medio de un entorno internacional cada vez más hostil, lo cual es un aspecto relevante en la coyuntura actual”.
En este contexto, los principales índices accionarios en EU cerraron con caídas semanales a consecuencia de la aversión al riesgo global.
El Nasdaq registró una baja semanal de 0.63 por ciento, a 19 mil 406.83 puntos; por su parte, el S&P 500 bajó 0.39 por ciento, a 5 mil 976.97 enteros, mientras que el Dow Jones finalizó con una caída de 1.32 por ciento, a 42 mil 197.79 unidades.
Las bolsas a nivel local cerraron en números negativos. El índice principal de la Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, el S&P/BMV IPC, finalizó la semana a la baja con el 1.1 por ciento, a 57 mil 438.57 enteros; y para el FTSE-BIVA de la Bolsa Institucional de Valores la caída fue de 1.03 por ciento.

Refrescos y cigarros, los más golpeados por los nuevos impuestos “saludables”

Ciudad de México. – El Paquete Económico 2026 llegó acompañado de un fuerte golpe al bolsillo de los consumidores: el aumento de precios en productos de alto consumo como refrescos y cigarros.
La medida forma parte de los llamados “impuestos saludables”, presentados por la Secretaría de Hacienda y Crédito Público (SHCP), con los que el gobierno busca recaudar más recursos y, al mismo tiempo, desincentivar hábitos nocivos para la salud.
De acuerdo con lo expuesto por el titular de Hacienda, Edgar Amador, estos nuevos gravámenes no solo buscan reducir el consumo de bienes considerados dañinos para la población, sino también fortalecer la estructura tributaria y generar ingresos adicionales que se destinarán a proyectos de seguridad, salud, educación e infraestructura.
El alza más drástica: refrescos casi al doble
El mayor incremento recae sobre las bebidas azucaradas, particularmente los refrescos. El IEPS pasará de 1.6451 pesos a 3.0818 pesos por litro, lo que representa un aumento del 87%.
La justificación de Hacienda es que el consumo de refresco en México es “elevado” y está estrechamente vinculado con la obesidad —que afecta al 76.2% de los adultos mayores de 20 años—, así como con enfermedades como diabetes, padecimientos cardiacos, cáncer y trastornos metabólicos.
Cigarros: incremento histórico en impuestos
Otro de los productos más castigados son los cigarros. El impuesto ad valorem subirá de 160% a 200%, con un esquema de aumentos graduales que se extenderá hasta 2030.
Además, la medida aplicará también para bolsas de nicotina y cigarros artesanales, en cuyo caso la tasa específica crecerá 32%. Según cifras de Hacienda, el consumo de tabaco provoca cada año la muerte de más de 63 mil personas en México, principalmente por cáncer de pulmón, EPOC y enfermedades cardiovasculares.
Otros rubros con impuestos saludables
Aunque refrescos y cigarros acaparan la atención por ser productos de consumo masivo, los impuestos también alcanzan a otros sectores:
- Videojuegos violentos: aumento del 8% en precios digitales.
- Casas de apuestas en línea: nuevo gravamen del 30% al 50% sobre el monto total de cada transacción.
El trasfondo de la medida
Hacienda defiende que los “impuestos saludables” son un instrumento con fines extrafiscales para corregir patrones de consumo dañinos, aunque en la práctica, el efecto inmediato será un encarecimiento para millones de mexicanos que consumen refrescos y cigarros de manera cotidiana.
El debate está abierto: mientras el gobierno habla de salud pública y recaudación, los consumidores anticipan un fuerte impacto directo en su economía diaria.

Los inversionistas mantuvieron el optimismo tras las señales de que la Reserva Federal podría moderar el rumbo de su política monetaria, lo que favoreció el apetito por activos de mercados emergentes como México.

Jitomate se abarata en México por aranceles en Estados Unidos
Esta es la razón detrás de la disminución en el precio del jitomate, fruta que bajó casi 9% durante la primera quincena de agosto
Ciudad de México.– El jitomate, ingrediente indispensable en la cocina mexicana y parte clave de la canasta básica, atraviesa una caída notable en su precio dentro del mercado nacional. La explicación no está en la producción local, sino en las barreras comerciales impuestas desde Estados Unidos.
El gobierno norteamericano aplicó un arancel del 17 por ciento al jitomate mexicano, lo que redujo considerablemente las exportaciones. Como consecuencia, el producto que no cruza la frontera se queda en el país, generando una sobreoferta que presiona los precios a la baja.
De acuerdo con el más reciente reporte del INEGI, en la primera quincena de agosto el jitomate registró una disminución de 8.78 por ciento, contribuyendo a que la inflación general se ubicara en 3.49 por ciento anual, ligeramente por debajo de las expectativas del mercado.
La situación genera un doble efecto: mientras los consumidores mexicanos encuentran el jitomate más barato en mercados y supermercados, los productores resienten el golpe económico al no poder venderlo en el extranjero en las mismas condiciones. Cabe recordar que México abastece cerca del 90 por ciento del jitomate fresco que se consume en Estados Unidos, con un comercio binacional que supera los 8 mil millones de dólares anuales.
Para mitigar los efectos de la medida, el gobierno mexicano fijó precios mínimos en las exportaciones de jitomate fresco, con el fin de evitar distorsiones en el mercado y recuperar acceso al mercado estadounidense en mejores términos.
En el panorama de agosto, además del jitomate, otros productos mostraron descensos importantes en su precio: el chayote (-13.10%), el transporte aéreo (-8.42%), el cine (-10.01%), el plátano (-4.15%) y el pollo (-2.47%).
El debate ahora gira en torno a quién gana y quién pierde: las familias mexicanas celebran un respiro en su gasto diario, mientras los productores advierten que, si la situación persiste, la caída en los precios podría traducirse en menores ingresos y presión sobre el campo nacional.
